The next Marvel Studios movie to be shown in theaters is Thor: Love and Thunder. Director Taika Waititi recently addressed rumors that the movie was set to replace Thor during an interview with GamesRadar. In the interview, Waititi reveals that he doesn’t really see the movie that way. The director doesn’t think Chris Hemsworth will lay his axe anytime soon.
“And also, it’s really fun, the idea that Thor [has] You’ve got Stormbreaker, that big axe, and now the hammer is in someone else’s hand,” Waititi explained. No longer hammer him. It’s the idea that someone takes his place. I think a lot of fans will assume, “Oh, well, this is the torch relay”… I’m not aware of any plans Marvel has for the future, but I don’t think that’s an issue.”
The studio describes the film as follows: “The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey like never before – in search of inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic assassin known as the butcher of the god Gore (Christian Bale),” To combat this threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Tica Waititi) and his ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who, to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably uses his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as Mighty Thor. Together, they embark on a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover and stop the butcher god’s vengeance secret before it’s too late.”
The film is directed by Waititi and stars Chris Hemsworth as the titular character, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster / Mighty Thor, Russell Crowe as Zeus, Jamie Alexander as Lady Sword, Chris Pratt as Peter Quill / Star-Lord, Sean Jean as Craiglin, Dave Bautista as Drax Destroyer, Karen Gillan as Nebula and Christian Bale as Gore’s Divine Butcher. In addition to directing, Waititi will reprise his role as Korg. Thor: Love and Thunder It arrives in cinemas on July 8, 2022!
